Palin's personal e-mail account hacked

If the hilarioussss impersonation of Governor Sarah Palin by Tina Fey on SNL (watch it below before it gets deleted) wasn't enough, it seems someone claiming to be a member of the group known as Anonymous (I covered them before, remember?) hacked into Palin's personal e-mail address hosted by Yahoo, sometime around midnight Tuesday according to WikiLeaks (covered them earlier too!) in a press release regarding the matter. WikiLeaks is of course where the screenshots of Palin's e-mail inbox were hosted. There's another spot here on Gawker where the screens are shown.

Sarah Palin has taken some heat before for possibly using private e-mail addresses to conduct government business, implying that she uses these private accounts to get around public records laws. The Bush administration has also been charged with doing this, by the way. Well apparently, these screencaps taken from her inbox gave an alarming amount of evidence to support this.. I'll link the full updated article from Wired News, they have everything in their report besides the actual shots. Interesting stuff.. also, the FBI says they are coordinating with the United States Secret Service over this matter. Anon is pretty awesome, ha.

And here's that SNL skit I promised you, catch it before it gets deleted:

Kurihara v. Best Buy Co., Inc.

So I actually got this in the mail a few days ago, but I'll post about it anyway 'cause I'm submitting my claim online right now.

I guess someone took advantage of some good ol' corporate wrongdoing and brought it to court, where a nice settlement was granted. The case is.. well, I'll just paste it.

"The United States District Court for the Northern District of California (the “Court”) preliminarily approved a Settlement of the lawsuit against Best Buy Co., Inc. (“Best Buy”). Best Buy’s records indicate you are a class member if you: (1) are/were employed by Best Buy Co., Inc. in one or more of its California retail stores at any time between August 25, 2004 and August 4, 2008 and (2) were subjected to uncompensated security checks. This website describes the claims, the Settlement and your rights as a class member. Please read the entire website.

Plaintiff contends that Best Buy owes the class members compensation for the time spent submitting to security inspections and meal and rest break violations caused by these inspections. Best Buy denies any wrongdoing and contends that it timely and fully paid for all work performed.

On August 4, 2008, the Court preliminarily approved a Settlement of this lawsuit. The Court will consider final approval at a hearing scheduled for December 1, 2008. The Court has not ruled on the merits of Plaintiff’s claims."

So basically since I worked there for about 3 months a year and a half ago, I'm entitled to approx. $65! Niceee. I kinda hated working there anyway.. like a lot of department store jobs only more intense in both aspects, it blended warehouse labor with nonstop customer service, especially in PCHO. Carrying 80lb printers down a ladder from above your head and then dragging them to the register wasn't fun. Nor was getting it into a shopping cart. Being tired out after every transaction wasn't near enough, though, because if I didn't upsell geek squad packages or warranties or 3+ accessories I may as well not even have sold anything. Bastards.

Anyway, thanks for the $65.

From inspiration to curiosity

While having nothing else to do for the moment, I enjoy surfing from page to page on the internet, just off the expansive shores of wikipedia. Today I've been at entertainment beach since I woke up, following some interesting leads I got while reading about my current inspiration and idol, Steve Aoki.

Steve's father, "Rocky" Aoki, recently passed away- but not before founding one of the largest Japanese restaurant chains in history and changing the face of Japanese-American dining with his Benihana brand.

His story is indeed very interesting, and I admire Steve now even more for being close but not too close to his father, as he may have been consumed by the stress monster that got a hold of 4 of his 5 siblings and half siblings.

Check it out, it's really an amazing story, lol. Steve's half-sibling that escaped the monster with him is Devon Aoki, the woman that replaced Naomi Campbell as the face of Versace. Step down for link
